Red Hot + Rio 2 :: Beirut cover of "O Leãozinho" on fund raiser album

Below the jump, stream a new cover by Beirut. The Red Hot Organization responsible for the 2009's excellently amalgamated Dark Was the Night compilation will release another this year called Red Hot + Rio 2  in order to raise funds for HIV/AIDS awareness. The compilation will feature Beck, Dirty Projectors, Neon Indian, Of Montreal, Beirut, Devendra Banhart. It's a sequel to an Red Hot + Rio, which was a tribute to Bossa Nova, and on this one each artist will do their own cover in tribute to Tropicália. You can read more about the music here.

The Beirut track is a cover of "O Leãozinho," a song by Tropicália musician Caetano Veloso. The song is in Portuguese and singer Zach Condon had this to say about the language, "I feel like Brazilian guitar music is some of the most important and impressive in the world, as far as I'm concerned. I honestly think Brazilian Portuguese is the best language on the planet for its own musicality."
