Both spooky and goofy, digi and folky, Avey Tare's first proper solo is Down There. He just might be my favorite part of Animal Collective. The record reminds me a lot of the very early Panda Bear / Avey Tare collaboration :: Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished. The songs drag a little bit, but there's always something interesting. It's why I think Avey and Panda are a good match, they balance each other out. The art that goes along with the album is also really interesting.

The cover reminds me a lot of Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas
